Seamlessly bringing DIRIGERA-compatible devices into the HSYCO platform – smooth and cost effective window blinds automation and integration with door and window sensors
Project Catalyst
HSYCO is a powerful, versatile and easily configurable supervision platform that makes the creation of secure, scalable, holistic solutions as simple as possible. HSYCO provides developers, systems integrators and OEMs with all of the tools and support they need to quickly and easily create state-of-the-art automation and control supervision solutions that integrate a variety of diverse systems.
When HSYCO prepared its new office for a modern workforce, the team sought to install elegant, motorized window coverings to enhance both aesthetic appeal and occupant comfort. The IKEA TREDANSEN blinds presented an ideal candidate – off-the-shelf, well-designed, and cost-effective.
To further safeguard the workspace and optimize facility management, HSYCO required real‑time visibility into door and window status. IKEA DIRIGERA-compatible door/window sensors provided a straightforward solution to monitor open/closed events, track durations, and alert personnel if the doors/windows remained unsecured during off-hours or weekends.

Determined to leverage the full breadth of IKEA’s smart-home innovation, HSYCO embarked on developing an integration plugin that would enable direct communication with the DIRIGERA hub. This would enable the deployment of the TREDANSEN blinds and door/window sensors in our new office and pave the way for broader adoption of every DIRIGERA-compatible product – lights, sensors, shades, outlets, and more – within professional automation projects.
This pilot proved how HSYCO can seamlessly blend consumer-grade simplicity with professional automation – and laid the groundwork to support every DIRIGERA-compatible device in future building projects.
Summary
HSYCO has extended its leading building‑automation platform to support the full portfolio of IKEA DIRIGERA‑compatible devices. From lighting and climate controls to security sensors and outlets, HSYCO users can now discover, manage, and automate all DIRIGERA products natively, ensuring rapid commissioning and a unified experience across commercial and residential installations.
IKEA DIRIGERA-compatible devices can now be included in the HSYCO web based control interface, together with the wide range of products supporting one of the many protocols integrated by HSYCO.
About IKEA DIRIGERA
Introduced in 2022, IKEA’s DIRIGERA hub serves as a consumer‑grade gateway for smart‑home products, offering an expanding catalog of certified lights, shades, sensors, outlets, and more. Designed for simplicity and affordability, it has quickly gained traction among homeowners and small‑to‑medium integrators.
Challenges & Objectives
• Interoperability Gap: No sanctioned integration path existed to bridge DIRIGERA devices with third‑party automation systems.
• Diverse Device Landscape: Customers increasingly appreciate the ability to leverage the full breadth of IKEA’s DIRIGERA ecosystem – beyond single use‑cases – without relying on multiple control systems.
• Speed of Deployment: Installers value a streamlined process that enables consumer‑grade devices to be integrated into complex building networks quickly and efficiently.
Integration Approach
HSYCO developed a DIRIGERA Driver that seamlessly connects to any IKEA DIRIGERA hub.
Once paired, it enumerates every certified device – lights, shades, sensors, outlets, etc. – and exposes their attributes as native HSYCO datapoints. From there, users can incorporate them into automation rules, schedules, energy‑management dashboards, and voice‑assistant workflows.
Key Capabilities
• Device Management: Automatic mapping of device capabilities (on/off, dimming, position, temperature, humidity, open/closed, etc.).
• Event Handling: Real‑time update, with fallback polling and automatic reconnection for resilience.
• Cost-Effective: Brings the affordability of IKEA’s product line into larger-scale installations, while maintaining full compatibility and robust automation capabilities.
Implementation Details
• Hub Discovery & Secure Pairing
HSYCO gateway connects to the DIRIGERA hubs on the local network, ensuring access token validity.
• Device Enumeration & Capability Mapping
Upon pairing, HSYCO queries the hub for its list of devices.
• Event Subscription & Polling
HSYCO subscribes to receive real-time updates about the device’s state for immediate state changes.
• Resilience & Health Monitoring
HSYCO continuously monitors hub connectivity and device health, with automatic retries and alerts on communication failures.
Outcomes & Advantages of the HSYCO integration
• Comprehensive Device Coverage: Native support for the entire, growing line‑up of DIRIGERA‑certified products.
• Enhanced User Experience: All IKEA devices appear natively in HSYCO’s dashboards and rule editors, providing a unified control interface and eliminating the need for users to operate disparate, device-specific applications.
• Ecosystem Growth Monitoring: HSYCO will continue to track IKEA’s DIRIGERA roadmap – targeting new device classes such as HVAC controls, motorized furniture, and advanced lighting fixtures.
